Fall in Florida is a season in my sunshine state that I look forward to every year. Come September, almost everyone is bringing out their fall decor and long sleeve shirts. That's the problem with Fall in Florida... wearing warmer clothing this time of year is still a challenge at times for me. The air becomes cooler and temperatures lower, but Florida is pretty unpredictable and can become warmer at any second. A typical day in September may begin at 70 degrees, but by noon, the temperature has climbed to 95 degrees!
Although dressing for this cozy season in Florida can be difficult at times, I feel like I’ve mastered my go to outfit that is perfect for the ever-changing weather. The first thing I think of when I think of Fall is its color scheme: I think of reds, oranges, browns, and deep blues. For my go to Fall outfit, I pair a nice skirt / jacket combo. We all know how much I love denim, so of course I had to include it in this Fall look. My skirt is incredibly soft denim and has two convienient pockets in the front. The brand is called Copper Key and is a brand I can count on. The material is super breathable and convenient if you decide to partake in Fall activities. The top I paired with the skirt is a baby-blue color and is from Belk that compliments the denim of the skirt. The reason I love this top for Fall in FL is because of the material mixed with the sleeves. The material of the top is thick and provides a little bit of warmth if needed. However, the sleeves have a peek-a-boo opening at the shoulder which keep you on the cooler side if you begin to feel too toasty. I chose to pair a jacket with this outfit for the cooler Fall days here in FL because yes there are some days when the temperature falls below 70 degrees… hard to believe I know! The jacket is also from Copper Key and is very light weight. My favorite part of the jacket is the embroider detailing on the back. The flower detailing goes perfectly with the shade of baby blue of the top. I've had short hair the majority of the past two years, so whenever I cut it really short, all of those beautifully embroidered details are visible. This light-weight jacket is great for chillier days and you have the option to remove it if Florida decides to be moody and become warmer in a matter of minutes! My boots are from Belk and are a deep shade of blue. This particular shade of blue is so unique and versatile; the velvet material of the boots is perfect for Fall weather and adds flare to the look. They’re very comfy and easy to walk in which is beneficial if you choose to participate in Fall activities. However, if you decide that heels aren’t for you, flats are always a good option and would work with this ensemble as well. The purse I paired with this look is from Michael Kors. It is also a shade of blue that compliments the outfit well and ties the whole look together.
If you’re looking for Fall filled activities this season, I highly recommend going to a pumpkin patch or going to a Fall festival. Something else that I really enjoy doing this time of year is going to Disney World for Mickey's not so scary Halloween party! The decorations really get me in the mood for Fall! Also, they have the best caramel candy apples…ever. No matter what state you live in, Fall is such a fun season that should be celebrated however you like! Even in 80 degree weather, if wearing a sweater makes you feel good - go for it! The change in seasons allows for so much self-expression. Enjoy this season, and all of its new beginnings.
