As we enter into the new year, new goals and aspirations fill my mind as they do for many others around this time of year. It’s always super important for me to ring in a new year with a positive mindset to help me achieve these new goals. Having an optimistic mindset can be challenging at times, so I’ve jotted down some of my favorite tips on how to keep a cool headspace during this season.
Tip #1 The power of planning
Whenever I have a plan, I always feel way more prepared and excited for my future! Whether it be planning upcoming trips for the new year or simply planning my daily and weekly activities – it can be very helpful towards building a positive mindset in an effort to fulfill the new goals I have.
Tip #2 Daily affirmations
During this time of year, I tend to get the seasonal blues which can last through the end of January; so I make it a point to do my daily affirmations. My daily affirmations include listening to worship music and positive thinking / meditation videos on Youtube. I find that doing this puts me in a calm, positive mindset which allows me to stay present and in the moment.
Tip # 3 It’s all about environment
I find that the space I’m in plays a major role in my mood and way of thinking. I seem to be more positive when my room is tidy and clean. Some ways I keep my space calm is using a salt lamp and frequently lighting candles. You can find salt lamps online – along with some inexpensive candles. My favorites tend to be found and Marshalls or Tjmaxx! With a peaceful environment comes a peaceful mind. Along with environment, the people you choose to surround yourself with can be a big factor in how you think or feel. I choose to be in relationships that are uplifting and optimistic!
