As much as I love being a social butterfly, It’s super important that I take time to relax, recharge my battery, and reflect. As a college student, my schedule is very hectic so I always ensure that I have at least 1-2 days a week where I can be at home. I call them my “pamper days.” These days typically include nail painting, Disney movies, and Hillsong United songs.
I start almost every day with my daily affirmations and prayer time. This begins the day with gratitude, and my devotionals. The daily affirmations get me in the right headspace to conquer my day, and my devotionals connect me to my higher power, allowing me to express my gratitude for all of my blessings. Once I have completed my morning routine, I will then proceed with my pamper day! On these days, I love taking time devoted to skincare. I love makeup but it’s nice for my skin to breathe every once in a while. I find face masks are really relaxing and benefit my skin really well. My favorite at the moment is clean and clear, their products are so refreshing and leave your skin feeling so clean and renewed.
Once I’ve applied my face mask and have established my relaxed surroundings, I absolutely love to paint my nails. I always do them myself and find the process to be very therapeutic. My go to polish brand lately has been the Revlon - Color Stay Gel Envy. The polish stays on for at least a week and is super easy to apply with a great formula. As I paint my nails, I tend to listen to my favorite worship band, Hillsong United. This band’s music has gotten me through some tough times and never fails to bring me peace and inspiration. Listening to their music as I do my nails relaxes me even more.
After I’ve pampered my mind, body, and soul it’s time to watch some Disney movies. College exams mixed with blog photoshoots can get pretty busy so I thoroughly enjoy having time watching my favorite movies. My current favorite is Disney’s 2015 version of Cinderella. I can watch this movie so many times and never get bored! When I’m relaxing, enjoying my movie, I tend to wear very comfy clothes; my go to comfy outfit lately has been a loungewear set from Abercrombie. It is so cute and isn’t necessarily a pajama set and happens to be my favorite color, baby pink. The loungewear set is available in other colors such as navy or grey. A great thing Abercrombie does is that you can actually buy the set separately! So If you decide you don’t want both pieces, you have that option. The shoes I chose to pair with this comfy look are from a brand called Jelly Pop. These shoes come in all sorts of different colors and are incredibly versatile. I bought mine at Belk but you can also find them online.
Taking time for yourself is so important, no matter how old you are. It’s okay to be selfish every once in a while and focus on YOU! I encourage you to at least dedicate an hour or two a week if you can’t commit to a full day, of pampering yourself… you deserve it.
